Wilma G. Omtvedt, age 96, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at The Maple Wood in Bloomer. She was born March 25, 1916 in Maple Grove Township in Barron County to Adolph and Myrtle (Johnson) Olson. She married Lyle Omtvedt on April 7, 1939. After his death she married Thomas Omtvedt on February 17, 1974 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. She worked at a canning factory, a chicken processing factory and was a grocery clerk for many years at the Chetek Farmer’s Store. Wilma was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious pies. She enjoyed traveling but she especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons: David (Beverly) Omtvedt of Highland Ranch CO and Roger (Valerie) Omtvedt of Chetek; two step-children: Irvin (Wanda) Omtvedt of Lincoln NB and Cleo Taft of Chetek; one step-daughter-in-law: Alice Omtvedt of Sand Creek; one sister: Beulah Olson; three sisters-in-law: Lois Olson, Florence Omtvedt and Genevieve Huset; numerous grand, step-grand, great-grand, step-great-grand and great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Adolph and Myrtle Olson; her husbands: Lyle Omtvedt and Tom Omtvedt; one step-son: Ralph Omtvedt; one step-son-in-law: Wayne Taft; two brothers: Arden and Lester Olson; one infant grandchild: Eugene Lyle Omtvedt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek with Rev. Barb Koch officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the church. There will be no visitation Wednesday evening.
