Wayne E. Pingel, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Colfax Health and Rehab. He was born on September 3, 1925 in the Town of Auburn to John and Elizabeth (Schnoor) Pingel. Wayne married Ilene Shipman on November 3, 1943 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. He and Ilene loved working on the farm where they taught their children the value of hard work and family togetherness. He served two terms on the Auburn Town Board and enjoyed meeting and talking with many people in the area while he removed their unwanted tree stumps. He found great joy dancing and singing, watching baseball, skiing and watching others have fun skiing at Pingel Hill, chainsaw carving, anything to do with horses and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Ilene of New Auburn; daughters: Susan (Doug) Martin and Julie (Jim) Koehler both of Bloomer; grandchildren: Andrew D. Martin, Jill (Steve) Gengler, Justin Koehler and Jordan Koehler; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Stephanie and Jessica Gengler.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Elizabeth Pingel; brothers: Clarence and Orville Pingle; sisters: Thyra Peterson and Valera Hagen.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM with a visitation at the church before the service from 9:00-11:00 AM. Burial of ashes will be in the Springbrook Cemetery.
