Vernice Hassemer

Vernice E. Hassemer, age 96, passed away Friday, November 14, 2008 at Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer. She was born May 19, 1912 in the Town of Bloomer to William & Olga (Krenz) Albrecht. She graduated from Bloomer High School in 1929 and from business college in 1930. She married Sylvester P. Hassemer on August 24, 1931 in Stillwater, MN. She worked at Hardware Insurance Company for three years and as a dietary cook for Marek Rest Home & Hetzel Care Center for twenty years. She and her husband owned and operated “Hassie’s Bar” on Main Street, Bloomer, for 32 years..

She is survived by two sons: Lorne (Dorothy) Hassemer of Bloomer & Pete (Sally) Hassemer of Sun City West AZ; one daughter: Deanna (Tim) Lewis of Bloomer; two brothers: Marvin & Lee (Shirley) Albrecht, both of Bloomer; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Sylvester in 1963; one sister: Lorraine Hensley.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Rev. Robert Otto officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 �" 8:00 on Sunday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
