Velna P. Oldenberg

Velna P. Oldenberg age 97 passed away on November 21, 2016 at the Dallas Care and Rehab. She was born near Sand Creek on April 13, 1919 to George and Amanda (Berg) Rediger. She married Leonard “Ole” Oldenberg on June 7, 1939. Velna enjoyed crocheting and doing cross stitch. She was an excellent cook and baker, always having homemade cookies, bread and dumplings.

She is survived by her children: Donald (Kim) Oldenberg of Bloomer, Dean (LuAnn) Oldenberg of Bloomer, Judene (Pete) Friberg of Colfax and Linda (Byron) Motzer of Chetek; daughters-in-law: Linda Oldenberg of Bloomer and Jackie Oldenberg of Bloomer; brother: Mervin (Carol) Rediger of Bloomer; sisters: Delores Pauling and Mavis (Jerome) Steinmetz; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Amanda Rediger; husband Leonard “Ole” Oldenberg; sons: Verlyn “Ole”, Ronald “Redd”, Dennis “Snort”, Eugene “Buck” Oldenberg; three brothers: Delbert, Robert and Arnold Rediger; great-grandson: Cale Stoik.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Bloomer with a visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com
