Ursula R. Strom, age 70, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born July 5, 1944 in Chicago IL to John R. and Helen (Kendrick) Smith. She married Howard Strom on May 10, 1966 in Chicago. Ursula loved her nurse’s aide job, caring for the residents at the Maple Wood Nursing home in Bloomer. She enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, canning, crocheting, sewing, crafting, making candles, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Howard of Bloomer; daughters: Caroline (David) Cadalbert of Baldwin, Christine (Timothy) Sheehan of Eau Claire, and Karen Healy of White Bear Lake MN; sisters: Joanne (Bernard) Sako of Chicago IL, Nancy (Joseph) Gallegos of Meridian ID and Ardis Schallerer of Arlington Heights IL; grandchildren: Ashley Cadalbert, Amber Sheehan, Katelyn Sheehan, Matthew Cadalbert, Michael Cadalbert and Ruby Healy.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Helen Smith; brothers: Neil, Mark and John “Jackie” Smith; sisters: Barbara Kocik and Donna Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire on Friday, January 23rd at 2:00 PM. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday and also on Friday morning until 10:45 AM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer.
