Richard (Dick) John Siverling passed away July 8, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer.
Dick was born on December 9, 1949 in Chippewa Falls to Frank & Elizabeth (Durch) Siverling. He was a dairy and crop farmer until illness made it too difficult to continue. Dick had served on the Planning Commission for the Town of Bloomer and also was a past Board Member for the Town of Bloomer. He enjoyed his role as honorary father and grandfather to two special girls and their children.
Dick will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and innovative ideas. He enjoyed welding, repairing buildings and machinery, traveling, woodworking, playing cards and attending horse pulls. He especially enjoyed “pulling anyone’s leg” just to see what type of look or reaction he’d get. A great teller of tall tales was just one of his many talents.
He is survived by one brother, Leon (Bea) Siverling of Brooklyn, WI; two sisters, Marie (Gordy) Frieberg of Minong, and Janese (Harvey) Breed of California and Chetek, WI. Dick is also survived by 5 nephews, a niece, and special “daughters” Tammy and Tina. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 nephews, and a niece.
Per Dick’s wishes, there will not be a service or memorial; he did not want to provide an excuse for anyone to take a day off of work! Memorials may be made to the Frank and Elizabeth Siverling Tutor and Scholarship program at Bloomer High School or to the charity of your choice.
The family thanks the staff at Bloomer Hospital for their compassionate care provided to Dick during his final days.
