Richard V. “Rick” Nelson, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He was born June 17, 1961 in Chippewa Falls to Vernon and Helen (Sickora) Nelson. He married Diane Rubenzer on September 15, 1984 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Rick was a self-employed builder who also had a passion for riding and working on motorcycles and cars. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, watching and participating in dirt track racing, and had a large die-cast car collection. He also enjoyed hunting, going to the cabin, listening to rock ‘n roll music, spoiling his grandkids and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Diane of Colfax; sons: Jeremy (Jamie) Nelson of Bloomer, Jordan Nelson of Bloomer; step-sons: Josh (Kim) Rufledt of Bloomer and Jason Rufledt of Bloomer; sisters: Yvonne Rubenzer, Crystal (Chuck) Jasper, Rosalie (Rick) Berg and Mary Ojibway; brothers: Matthew Nelson and David (Melissa) Nelson; grandchildren: Trevor Rufledt, Ryleah Nelson, River Nelson, Claire Rufledt and Everly Rufledt.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Vernon and Helen; sister: Vernetta Clements; brothers: Bruce, Howard and Samuel Nelson; brothers-in-law: Junior Rubenzer, Scott Kempe and Terry Ojibway.
A public visitation will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM with a private family service at 2:00 PM. Following the burial there will be a reception at the White Pine in Bloomer.
