Ramona M Britton, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie. She was born September 2, 1928 in the Town of Cleveland to Julius and Mabel Hockenbrock) Nehring. She married Vernon Britton on September 12, 1950 in Eau Claire. Ramona was a very knowledgeable and dedicated professional, working as a nurse for the Bloomer Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, fishing, being outdoors, traveling, playing cards, watching the Brewers and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one son: Dan Britton of Hayward; one daughter: Helen (Bob) Redlich of Menomonie; one brother: Richard (Lynn) Nehring of Colfax; three grandchildren: Leah (Mike) Struebing of Lino Lakes MN, Jennifer (Brian) Mikesell of Menomonie and Jacob Redlich of Menomonie; 4 great grandchildren: Nathan and Christian Struebing, Charlie and Claire Mikesell.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Julius and Mabel Nehring; husband: Vernon; infant daughter: Mary; brothers: Carl, Howard, Allen, Phillip, William, Oliver, Harold and Arthur Nehring; sisters: Ruth Auburt and Dorothy Hop.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bloomer with Pastor Heather Brewer officiating. Spring burial will be at the Cleveland Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
