Lloyd E. Woodmansee, age 94, passed away on March 6, 2025, at Prairie Pointe Assisted Living in Altoona.
Lloyd was born on May 26, 1930, in Madison, WI to Roswell and Loretta (Buck) Woodmansee. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War, retiring from the Navy Reserves in 1974.
On March 28, 1953, Lloyd married Joanne Marquardt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Lloyd attended UW-Stout, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education. Lloyd worked for the State of Wisconsin as a building construction supervisor and Owen-Ayres Associates as an Engineer.
Lloyd had a strong faith, was active in the Gideons International and volunteered in several Christian mission trips. He was a member and past commander for The New Auburn American Legion Post #267 and participated in the New Auburn Area Community Choir. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, bow hunting, puzzles and scuba diving, a skill he learned in the Navy as a salvage diver.
Lloyd is survived by his children: James (Janice) Woodmansee, Cari (Richard “Jake”) Jacobson and Laurie Evenson; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Joanne Woodmansee in 2017; parents: Roswell and Loretta Woodmansee; siblings: Merna Johnson, Herbert Woodmansee and Irma Vetter.
A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2025 at New Auburn United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the town of Bloomer at a later date with military honors conducted by the New Auburn American Legion Post #267.
