John B. Norris

John B. Norris, age 98, passed away June 24th, 2024, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. He was born on October 23rd, 1925, in Washburn Wisconsin to John and Mary (Casper) Norris. He married Doris Jean Simet on October 5th, 1957, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer.

John taught Art and Industrial Arts at Bloomer Junior high for many years. Prior to his teaching career John served in the US Navy flight program during WWll. John graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later earned a teaching degree from UW River Falls. After college John and his wife Jean started their own printing business in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. When he retired from teaching John continued his 34 year tradition of traveling to Cannon Beach, Oregon, where he attended art classes and painted watercolor on the ocean with his friends. When John wasn’t pursuing his love of travel he enjoyed biking, Wisconsin Badger football, deer hunting, and doing projects with his brother Roger (Pinky) Norris. Some of his favorite memories were the two Dall sheep hunts to Alaska with his brother, traveling to Oregon every summer with his son, trips with his family and playing cards and board games with his sisters and sister-in-law Dukey Norris.

He is survived by his son: James Norris, daughter-in-law: Carla (Schmidt) Norris and grandson: Jacob John Norris, nephews: Craig Boettcher and David Norris and nieces: Bonnie (Boettcher) Briggs, Carol (Norris) Paulson and Lisa (Erickson) Prince. He is also survived by sister-in-law: Lou Ann (Stertz) Norris.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Mary Norris; wife: Jean; brothers: Duanne and Roger Norris; sisters: Eileen Erickson and Betty Boettcher.

The family would like to thank Amy, Maria, Hannah and the staff at 4U Home Health Care for their loving care of John over the years.
