John L. Holman, age 88, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at his home in Bloomer. He was born November 11, 1920 in Barron to John & Amanda (Gunderson) Holman. He married Vada Kolb on May 21, 1955 in Barron. John worked as an electrician for Dairyland Power in La Crosse WI for 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Vada of Bloomer; two sons: John Holman of Morristown MN & William Holman of Marquette MI; one daughter: Terrie Holman of Bloomington MN; five grandchildren: James (Joy) Anderson of Prior Lake MN, Amanda Dorsher of Bloomington MN, John Dorsher of Bloomington MN, John C. (Carrie) Holman of Ham Lake MN; five great-grandchildren; niece: Charlotte Smith of Cameron; nephew: Wallace Holman of Bloomington MN; daughter-in-law: Carolyn Holman of Coon Rapids MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Wallace (Betty) & Bobby Holman; three sisters: Ethel (Archie) Smith, Lucille (Rev. E. B.) Swenson & Dorothy (Elwyn) Helgeson; two nephews & two nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Rev. Bob Hannemann officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Wayside Cemetery in Barron. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Friday at the church. There will be no visitation Thursday evening.
