John B. Bastolich

John B. Bastolich, age 80, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was born on July 12, 1933 in Waubay, South Dakota to John and Ella (Kittelson) Bastolich. He married Janet Witthuhn on July 26, 1991 in Ramsey County. He served in the US Army and worked as a high school teacher and administrator for most of his life. John loved history and collecting all sorts of items. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and listening to classical music.

He is survived by his wife: Janet Witthuhn of Sand Creek; sons: Brennan (Terra) Bastolich of Somerset WI and Bryce Bastolich of Vail CO; brother: Dennis Bastolich of the Twin Cities; sisters: Bernice Hoefs of Hankinson ND and Betty Mogen of Summit SD; two grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Ella; brother: James Bastolich; sister: Elnora Bastolich

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek. There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church on Friday. Burial will take place at a later date at the Ortley Cemetery in South Dakota. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
