Joan “Joann” Johnson, age 89, passed away in Menomonee Falls, Wis. on December 22, 2021. She was born September 29, 1932 at her grandmother’s home in Bloomer to Alfred and Eleanor (Johnson) Schmidt. Joann grew up on the family farm in the township of Bloomer. She attended Brush Prairie School, Bloomer High School and Eau Claire Vocational School.
Joann married Lawrence Johnson of Milwaukee on Valentine’s Day 1964. Together they had two sons: Eric and Carl.
Joann worked various jobs starting at Eau Claire Book and Stationery, Eau Claire Letter Service, Milwaukee Advertising Service and Contemporary Products in Milwaukee.
Joann’s favorite pastimes were dancing, sewing as she had become an excellent seamstress able to make any type of clothing, watching horse shows as she had learned how to handle work horses on the family farm and most of all be with her family.
Joann is survived by her son: Carl; brother: Lynn (Rita) Schmidt; niece: Jody (Brian) Seibel; nephew: Ryan (Heather) Schmidt.
She was preceeded in death by her parents: Alfred and Eleanor Schmidt; brother: Ralph Schmidt; husband: Lawrence; son: Eric.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Turner Cemetery in Bloomer. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
