Janesville Ida E. Powell, 91, of Janesville WI, formerly of Bloomer WI passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Beloit Health and Rehab Center in Beloit, WI.
The former Ida Eileen Gerber was born on June 30, 1920 in Chippewa County, WI the daughter of Leroy and Nora (Fosslett) Gerber. She attended Beaver Valley Schools in Chippewa County, WI. Ida married Edward Powell on December 23, 1939 in Cornell WI She was employed as a seamstress at Chippewa Woolen Mills. Ida also worked at Presto Industries in Eau Claire, and as a cook at Bloomer High School and the Chippewa County Nursing Home. Ida was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer, WI. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida, Hawaii, and many other places.
Ida is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Scott) Welcome of Menomonie, WI, Rachael (Ed) Pinkham, Hollywood, FL, sons, Bob Powell, Beloit, WI, Everett “Tom” (Rosemary) Powell, New Auburn, WI, ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, brother, Earl (Marilyn) Gerber, along with numerous nieces nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Carolyn Burnell, infant son, William Powell, and several sisters and brothers.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer, WI with visitation prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire, WI. The family would like to thank the staff of Beloit Regional Hospice for the love and care given to Ida. They ask that memorial donations be given to one’s local hospice in memory of Ida.
