Harvey Breed

Harvey W. Breed, age 86, passed away on December 22, 2024 at Cornell Nursing Home. He was born on October 10, 1938 to Harvey M. and Edith (Calkins-Nix) Breed. He served his country in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion. From his first marriage Harvey became a father to Russell and from his second marriage a step-father to Diana. He married Janese Siverling-Turner on April 12, 1991 in Palm Springs when Harvey added a step-son James to his family. Harvey and Janese lived in California for 33 years, 20 full time and for 13 years as snowbirds. Together they spent countless hours dancing and traveling around the country to visit family, national parks and museums.

Harvey worked as a mechanical diagnostician for K-Mart, Chucks, JC Penny and Standard Oil. He had a passion for cars and loved to drive fast. He was a Moose Member, gun collector and gifted photographer. He was a selfless person, always helping others with projects and remodels as well as taking care of his neighbor’s homes when they were away for summer season. 

Family was the most important thing to Harvey and had a deep respect for his elders, driving many hours to spend time with them. He was a very loyal person, once you were in his circle of friends, you were in for life. Those who knew him best appreciated his quick wit and his charming comments could make you so mad sometimes that all you could do is laugh. 

 He is survived by his wife: Janese; son Russell (Marci) Breed; step-children: Diana Parks and James (Linda) Turner; grandchild: Hailey; step-grandchildren: Rachel and Shane; step great-grandchildren: Alec and Bret; special friends Will and Chris; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Russell, and other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Olson Funeral Home on January 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to the Bloomer Veterans Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
