Gilbert C. Geissler, age 81, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 21, 2011. He was born on August 6, 1929 to Harold and Mary (Zwiefelhofer) Geissler in the town of Eagle Point WI. Gib, as he is known to his family and friends, attended the Notre Dame School in Chippewa Falls. In 1949 Gib Married Loretta Rank of Chippewa Falls at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Gib and Loretta then moved to California where they lived and raised their family. Gib was an excellent sheet metal worker for his entire working career. In 1989 Gib and Loretta moved back to Wisconsin to live on the Chetek River. Gib was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing accordion, playing softball, dancing and playing cards. He had a gift for hospitality and entertaining anyone who stopped to visit both here and in California. He will be missed by all who knew him
He is survived by his wife: Loretta of Chetek; four sons: Ronnie (Judy) Geissler, Bob (Donna) Geissler, Rick (Debbie) Geissler all of California, Randy Geissler of Chetek; daughter: Debbie Geissler of California; four sisters: Clara Zenner, Alvira Michels, of Bloomer Henrietta Derks of Eagle Point, and Charlotte Goettl of Rice Lake; brother Irvin (Colleen) Geissler of Bloomington MN; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Edward (Marge) Geissler, great-grandson: Owen Corda
Funeral services will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Deacon Richard Kostner officiating. A wake service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the North Catholic Cemetery following the service.
