Gertrude Sparby, age 82, passed away at the Maplewood in Bloomer on Thursday, July 7, 2011. She was born on September 14, 1928 in Eau Claire to Rudolph and Caspara (Isakson) Paulson. She married Orwin Sparby on February 24, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. Gertrude worked as a secretary for many years in Minneapolis. In her free time she enjoyed doing crafts, painting, and sewing. She loved music, playing the piano and organ. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Orwin of Bloomer; son: Paul Sparby of New Hope MN; daughter: Beth Demsky of Rochester MN; brother: Wesley (Delores) Paulson of Altoona; five grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother: Gordon (Eunice) Paulson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church Running Valley. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer from 5:00-7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
