Esther Samens

Esther A. Samens, age 93, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at The Maple Wood in Bloomer. She was born June 12, 1915 in Bloomer to Jacob & Mary (Faschingbauer) Hepfler. She married Leonard Samens on October 11, 1934 in Bloomer. She worked as a cook for the Bloomer School District for 26 years and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, PCCW & Catholic Order of Foresters. Esther was a friendly, social person and enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, playing bingo, cooking, baking and visiting with her family & friends.

She is survived by one son: Peter (Kathy) Samens of Oconomowoc; two daughters: Mary Lee (Al) Fremstad of Chetek & Lois (Ron) Roseberry of Helendale CA; one brother: Lee (Jackie) Hepfler of Chippewa Falls; three sisters: Leona Siverling of Bloomer, Edith Siverling of Ladysmith & Alyda Krejci of Chippewa Falls; 7 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Leonard; one brother: Ralph Hepfler; two sisters: Rose Ruff & Mona Bekken.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February7, 2009 at 12:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Interment will be in the North Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church on Saturday. There will be no visitation Friday evening.
