Elmer Fred Ferg, age 94, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Dove Healthcare, Bloomer, WI. He was born September 26, 1923 in Bloomer Township to Emma (Lueck) and William Ferg. He grew up on the Ferg homestead and attended Mile Corner Country School, where he graduated from eighth grade. He was a confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church. Elmer graduated from Bloomer High School where he was active in FFA and he was a member of Woodmohr 4-H Club. In his free time he enjoyed fishing with his brother, Wilmer.
On September 12, 1950 Elmer married Angeline (Pansy) Dahl at St. John Lutheran Church in Bloomer, WI. They lived in a small trailer home on Elmer’s home farm where they farmed in partnership with his brother, Wilmer and his wife, Arlene. In 1954 they built their home next to Elmer’s childhood home.
After retiring from farming Elmer worked as janitor for People’s State Bank. Elmer was a Charter Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church serving as secretary, treasurer, and trustee. Elmer was known for his green thumb as one favorite pastime was working in their flower and vegetable gardens. Elmer was blessed to have many children in his life as he spent time with his niece and nephew and their children.
Elmer is survived by nephew, William (Karen) Ferg; niece, Sharon (Joe) Seibel; great- nieces, Kristi (Jonah) Gotham, Kimberly (Chris) King, Karissa Seibel, Allison Seibel; great-great nieces and nephews, Wyatt Gotham, Elliott Gotham, Whittney Gotham, Owen King, and Aubree King.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline (“Pansy” Dahl) Ferg; parents, Emma (Lueck) and William Ferg; brother, Wilmer Ferg and sister-in-law Arlene (Hanson) Ferg, great-nephew, Matthew Seibel.
A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bloomer on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
