Donald Paul Rihn, known affectionately as Donnie, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family in the comfort of his home. Born on March 31, 1959, to Paul and Beverly (Wildenberg) Rihn, Donnie lived a life full of ambition, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
Donnie graduated from Bloomer High School in 1977. His life journey began with service to his country as a US Marine. Afterward, his entrepreneurial spirit shone as he ventured into business: first opening Don’s Station and later Donnie’s Place, a neighborhood bar that became a cherished gathering spot. Hard work and vision led Donnie to establish several successful businesses including DRT Transport, R & R, DRT Biosolids, and DRT Sands. His ultimate dream came to life with the opening of Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Resort & Casino, Las Vegas—a true testament to his determination and love for creating memorable experiences.
Donnie met the love of his life, Bonnie (Boese) Mitchell in 1987, and together they built a life of laughter, travel, and shared dreams. Their partnership was the foundation of Donnie’s many achievements and the family they cherished together. When not immersed in his work, Donnie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He found joy in the quality time spent with his grandchildren, trips to Las Vegas to play cards—especially baccarat, and afternoons unwinding at the hunting shack.
Donnie is survived by his devoted wife and caretaker: Bonnie (Boese) Mitchell; and his children: Danielle (Steve Eisenhuth) Rihn, Ronnie (Kayla) Rihn, Brandon (Caitlin) Mitchell, and Ryan (Clarissa) Naset, all of Bloomer. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Harper, Remini, Havyn, Oliver, Milo, Emersyn, Henry, Asher, Savannah, and Morgan. Donnie also leaves behind numerous nephews, great nieces and nephews, countless friends, and business partners who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Beverly Rihn; brother: Ronnie Rihn; and sister: Cindy (Rihn) Aubart.
Donnie’s life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and the power of dreams. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, cherished memories, and a life fully lived. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Donnie’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 PM with a brief service to follow.
