Donna Mae Peterson

Donna Mae Peterson, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born January 4, 1936, in Cadott to Louie and Theresa (Hurt) Rubenzer. Donna attended McDonell Catholic High School and graduated with the Class of 1953. On October 13, 1956, Donna was united in marriage to Daniel Peterson at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. 

 In her younger years, Donna loved to dance, listen to polka music and regularly enjoyed a sweet treat of Breyer’s Vanilla ice cream. Her warm and welcoming home led to an in-depth and personal connection with each one of her family members. After her husband Dan passed in 2010, she lived with her son Tim and daughter-in-law Ann in Bloomer. She will be remembered for her love of conversation, and she was a trusted advisor to her family and friends. She lived her life with a strong faith in Jesus, and her granddaughter quoted her to be “just a good human.” 

She is survived by her sons: Timothy (Ann Marie) Peterson and Ronald (Jacqueline Ruff) Peterson, both of Bloomer; sister: Darlene Wright of South St. Paul, MN; grandchildren: Jennifer Ann (Justin) Baker, Sarah Marie (Jay) Poole, Elise Rebecca Peterson, Nicholas Ronald (Lani Osicka) Peterson, Emily Mary J. (Ryan) Buske; great-grandchildren: Daniel Baker and James Poole; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Louie and Theresa; husband: Daniel Peterson; siblings: Pricilla “Girlie” Dietrich, Vernon, Wilmer, Allen, Kenneth and Clement Rubenzer.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior to Mass at the Church. Interment will be at the North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.
