Donald E. Poirier

Donald E. Poirier, age 86, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025. He was born June 27, 1938 in Cooks Valley, WI, to William and Gertrude (Weiher) Poirier. He married Mary Ann Heidtke on February 7, 1965 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eagleton. Donald displayed his true entrepreneurial spirit throughout his life. He owned and operated Donnie’s Pool Hall, two used car dealerships, interior and exterior painting and flipping fixer uppers into beautiful living spaces. He worked with his brother at the Bloomer Locker Plant and was a basketball referee for 40 years. One of his passions was vintage sport’s cars, especially the Corvette. He was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer, serving on the church council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing football, basketball and tennis.

He is survived by his wife: Mary of Bloomer; daughters: Kristin (Ted) Burgess of: North Carolina and their children: Shealynn Burgess, Taylor Burgess, Luke (Fiancé: Caroline) Burgess; Karin (Dan) Kulzer of Jim Falls and their children: Jacob (Faith) Rubenzer, parents of Tate and Blair, Karly Rubenzer, Alex (Rachel) Kulzer, Emily (Fiancé: Steve) Rubenzer, parents of Mason, Easton, Brooklyn and Jocelyn, and Eric Rubenzer, father of Noah and Ava; sisters-in-law: Beatrice, Kathrine, and Roberta; numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Gertrude; brothers: Harold, Wilfred “Pipey” and Dennis Poirier.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with a visitation one hour before the service at the church with a luncheon to follow. Donald donated his body to science and will be buried at a later date at the Eagleton Cemetery.
