Dean Gilbert Rosenbrook, age 87, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Bloomer.
Dean was born August 23, 1936, to Gilbert G. and Alice (Kressin) Rosenbrook. Dean was born on the birthday of his father and his father's twin brother, Herbert. August 23rd was always a big party. He was born in Chippewa County, attended a one room country school, and graduated from Bloomer High School in 1954. He was the oldest of 3 brothers. He grew up on the family farm in Cooks Valley. On April 6, 1955, he joined the Army, obtaining the rank of SP3. He was a weapons instructor, training recruits to replace the 9th Division in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He also trained National Guard troops at Camp Ripley, MN and Fort Carson, CO.
He married his high school sweetheart, Diane Faschingbauer, on February 10th 1956, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, CO. They were married 57 years and raised 6 children together. In 1957, they purchased a milk route. He did carpentry and electric work, drove school bus, and worked at a car dealership. In 1961, they purchased their first farm. One of his proudest accomplishments was being selected as Chippewa County Outstanding Young Farmer in 1965. He ended up 3rd in the State. Dean also received many conservation awards. In 1970, he and Diane added a snowmobile dealership and shop, selling and repairing Scorpion snowmobiles. In 1986, he acquired the Arctic Cat dealership and ran this business until 1997. He was very devoted to his family, friends, and customers.
Dean and Diane enjoyed many travels, including Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Norway, and Jamaica. They also enjoyed over 55 bus trips, and spending time at the cabin on Round Lake. He cared for Diane during her years of illness. He taught his family and friends what love in action looked like. Diane passed away January 9th, 2013.
He met his second love, Yvonne (Mercier) Seidling in 2014. They were married on September 26, 2015. They enjoyed traveling, cycling, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and time at the cabin on Round Lake. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, having served on the church council. He is a current member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eagleton, WI, and again serves on the council. He served on the Bloomer Coop Feed board, Bloomer Hospital board, and People's State Bank board for many years. Dean was a member of Bloomer Rod and Gun, serving as secretary for many years and being instrumental in the purchase of the land for the current complex. He was past president of the Moonlight Runners, which is now Bloomer Sno-hawks, and served on the Chippewa Valley snowmobile council for many years. He was also member of the American Legion Post #295 in Bloomer, WI.
Dean is survived by his wife: Yvonne Seidling; children: Donna (Dan) Bowman, Dale (Susan) Rosenbrook, Dean D. “Charlie” (Debbie) Rosenbrook, Denise (David) Lesny, Dawn (Bob) Johnson, and Dennis (Kelly) Rosenbrook; grandchildren: Lindsey, Jacob, Skye, Blake, Breanna, Braden, Gerald, Casey, Courtney, Caitlin, Carly, Collin, Joelle, Kelsey, Katrina, Dayton, Crystal, and Olivia; numerous great grandchildren; brothers: Donald (Jan) Rosenbrook and Larry (Diane) Rosenbrook; many nieces, nephews, and step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Seidling Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Gilbert and Alice Rosenbrook and first wife: Diane.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the White Pine Pavilion, 9832 County Hwy SS in Bloomer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1504 Vine St. in Bloomer, with visitation starting one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery with military honors conducted the Bloomer American Legion, VFW and AMVETS.
