Daniel R. Schroeder, age 87, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in Eau Claire WI.
He was born in Bloomer on June 4, 1936 and was one of three sets of twins born to Walter and Cora (Sheffield) Schroeder. He proudly served in the US Navy for 4 years and married Betty Schroeder in 1961 and later divorced. Dan worked at Presto Industries most of his life and retired as a self-employed milk hauler. In 2015 he married Elfriede Harwart.
He was well known as an Allis Chalmers tractor enthusiast, participating in tractor pulls, parades and also pulled draft horses. He enjoyed watching the Packers, a good joke and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Elfriede, brother: Alfred (Ann) Schroeder; daughters: Debbie (Steve) Simet and Amanda Carlson; son: Kevin (Deb) Schroeder, stepchildren: Paul (Lorilee) Harwart, Elizabeth (Joe) Walsh, Barbara Schloner, Heidi (Terry) Greenlee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Cora; daughter: Shari; brothers: Bill, Wally, Leon, Jack, Roland, and twin brother Don Schroeder; sisters: Lucy Harms, Margaret Domagala, Glennis Calkins, Gladys Peerson, Lorraine Reeb and Lorna Langer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at United Methodist Church in Bloomer with a visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be at the New Auburn Cemetery with military honors by the Bloomer American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS. Online condolences may be expressed at olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com.
