Clyde W. Shipman, age 88, passed away at MCHS Eau Claire on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. He was born April 6, 1933 in New Auburn to Lorn and Rose (Breed) Shipman. He married Marian Erickson on September 22, 1956. Clyde served in the US Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sgt. He was a farmer for 20 years and also worked for Pioneer Seed, UOP and a field agent for Ag Price. Clyde was a leader in the community serving as President of the New Auburn School board, a member of WEAC, President of the Chippewa Valley Electric Co-op board, President of St. John Lutheran Church Council, Past Master of Bloomer Masonic Lodge #281, Commander of Rice Lake Disabled American Veterans Chapter #52, Commander of Bloomer VFW, Past Worthy Patron of Bloomer Eastern Star and member of Tripoli Shrine. In his free time, Clyde enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cribbage, sharing stories and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his sons: Jeffrey (Sharon) of Bellevue NE, Thomas (Mona) of Eagan MN, Scott (Marita) of Chugiak AK, Michael (Joann) of Bloomer WI, John (Nena) of Alpena MI; sister: Ilene Pingel of Bloomer WI; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lorn and Rose; wife: Marian; son: Bryce; brothers: Jerome and Max Shipman
Services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with a visitation from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday April 21, 2022 with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Graveside services and military honors will be at 2:00 PM at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner on Friday, April 22, 2022.
