Betty L. Suhr (Karsten)

Betty L. Suhr, age 86, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer. She was born March 25, 1934 in Township of Buchanan County, Iowa to William and Zelda (Greenly) Karsten. She married Robert Suhr, Sr. on February 14, 1960 in Hawkeye, Iowa. Betty and Robert farmed for many years. Betty enjoyed cooking, baking and growing vegetables and flowers. She spent valuable time with her best friend, Verna Kemish. She truly missed those absent from her life, either by choice or by distance. Betty lived at Dove Healthcare where she made many friends and loved the staff. Anyone that knew Betty, knew that her granddaughter, Mollie Steinmetz (whom she called “My Mollie”) was the pride of her life. Bud and Lorie spent countless hours with Betty and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her sons: Robert Jr. (Carmel) Suhr of Rice Lake and Weldon “Bud” (Lorie) Suhr of Bloomer; daughter: Dawn (Donald) Wheeler of Eau Claire; brother: Larry (Becky) Karsten of Independence, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Lyndsey, McKenzy, Katrina, Kasie, Mollie, Nathan, William and Carson; several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Zelda Karsten; husband: Robert on June 5, 2002; brother: William Karsten; sister: JoAnn Wessel.
Due to current restrictions private services will be held at a later date with burial in the Bloomer Cemetery. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
