Arnold J. Guthrie, age 70, passed away at his home on Friday, May 13, 2011. He was born on July 3, 1940 in Chippewa County to Raymond and Rose (Tuschel) Guthrie. He married Julie Jecevicus on December 7, 1987 in Chippewa Falls. He worked as a truck driver, first hauling milk for Redigers and then owning his own Over-the-road trucking operation. He also owned and operated a dairy farm. He was a skilled mechanic and could fix just about any machine. He enjoyed working on tractors and trucks, fishing, hunting and was always busy working on something. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Julie of Cornell; children: Michael (Kari) Guthrie of Blair OK, Elizabeth Taylor of Turtle Lake WI, Melissa Borchardt of Cornell WI and Peggy (Don) Schuett of Chippewa Falls WI; one brother: Herman (Barb) Guthrie of Cache Oklahoma; sister: Bernice (Ted) Jerome of Cornell WI; eight grandchildren: Josh Guthrie, Michael Jo Guthrie, James Allen Taylor Jr., Micky Schermerhorn, Doobie Thomas, David Taylor, Tiffy Tarbok and Daniel Taylor; six great-grandchildren; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Rose (Tuschel) Guthrie; four sisters: Mary Guthrie, Marcella Franz, Shirley Lorenz and Dorothy Miller; one grandson: Bobby Allen Taylor.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Olson Funeral Home with David W. Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Cleveland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
