Obituary for George A Webb

George A  Webb
George A. Webb, age 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Atrium in Bloomer on Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born on August 6, 1926 to in Bloomer to Arthur and Otelia (Hier) Webb. He married the love of his life Laverne Selzener on April 7, 1948 and was preceded in death by her on May 10, 2018. George was a farmer all of his life but was much more than a man of the soil. Aside from being a dedicated farmer, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he also recognized the importance of community life as well. He was instrumental in the idea of Bloomer needing a hospital and went door to door to raise funds for said hospital. He was active on the school board, hospital board, bank board and for 47 years was a dedicated member of the REA board. He received the prestigious Ally of Cooperative Electrification (ACE) Award in 2013. The award is given to a person of good character and integrity who selflessly gave to his community, often saying, “it is more blessed to give than receive” He was also know by his friends and family as undoubtably the best marksman with a rifle. He spent many years hunting out west in Wyoming and Montana. He also enjoyed fishing when time allowed
He is survived by his sons: David (Teresa) Webb of St. Croix Falls, and Roger Webb of Bloomer; daughter: Diane (James) Schindler Chippewa Falls; daughters in-law: Dorothy Webb of Blaine MN, Peggy Webb-Kingston NY, Nora Webb of CA, Cindy Webb of Bloomer, Lorraine (Charlie) Rubenzer of Bloomer; son in-law: Rick Davis of Bloomer; sister-in-law: Ann Shipman of Chippewa Falls 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sisters: Eunice Berg and Mildred Van de Bogart.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Laverne on May 10, 2018; parents: Art and Otelia Webb; children: Alan Webb, Wayne Webb, Julie (Ron) Webb-Kysilko, and Karen Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a visitation from 11:00-1:00 before the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Atrium and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care of George.
