Rose "Eileen" Ruff (Quinn)
Eileen Rose Ruff Born February 18, 1919 - Died June 18, 2018.
born February 18, 1919 in Elton, Michigan to parents Laura and Martin Quinn. She was of one of eleven children. Eileen graduated from Bad Axe High School and then went on and graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology with an associate’s degree in Secretarial Science. Eileen worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant in Detroit for over 15 years with the longest tenure at Norge Appliances.
Eileen met the love of her life, Norbert C. Ruff, through her sisters and Norbert’s brother Richard Ruff, while in Detroit. They were married on July 8, 1950, and then relocated to Bloomer, Wisconsin where she resided for the rest of her life. Eileen and Norbert raised five children: Wendy Heggendorn (Ruedi – Grenchen, Switzerland), Geralyn Rovello (James – Portland, OR), Jacqueline Peterson (Ronald – Bloomer, WI), Jeanne Ruff (Salisbury, MD) and Mark Ruff (Kelly – Bloomer, WI). She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Christine Heggendorn, Nicholas Peterson, Emily Peterson, Blake and Lauren Ruff. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Norbert, grandson Alex Rovello, along with her brothers Riley, Arthur, Charles, John (Jack), and sisters Helen Markey, Lucy Harper, Ann Brown, Claire McMann, Elizabeth McGowan and Jeanne Talaski.
The greatest joy for Eileen was being a wife and mother. She would often say, “I would love nothing more than to have all her children little again”. Eileen was a beloved Mother – always there to provide an encouraging word or relishing in her children’s success. Eileen was the quiet strength behind her husband’s success – providing her support and encouragement to him in his business venues and those hunting and fishing adventures………
Eileen was a kind and thoughtful sole. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone, yet she was direct with what was “right and what was wrong” providing this directive to her children, grandchildren and caregivers even during her last days.
Her belief in God and the Catholic faith was another source of her solid charter.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the tremendous caregivers: Lisa, Pam, Debbie, Sue, Tonya, Joni and Kaye – along with Donny. These caring people supported Eileen as she remained in her home and enjoyed the view looking out at the lake and watching the ducks.
In addition, a special thank you to Dr. Christine Bruxvoort - a tremendous physician who always put Mother’s wants and wishes first.
